  • Reminder – No change to COVID safety measures at Trust

Risk Assessment for Pregnant Workers

This information is in line with the recently amended Government’s COVID-19 guidance for pregnant workers which can be accessed here.

All pregnant workers must be risk assessed. These risk assessments would include a new and expectant mother’s risk assessment and a COVID risk assessment.

This is applicable to all pregnant workers at any stage of gestation.

The final outcome of the risk assessment may result in some or all of the following:

  • Applying suitable control measures, including infection control. Refer to page 2 of the Risk Assessment guidance for recommendations.
  • Allowing all pregnant workers to continue working in their current location if the risk assessment advises that it is safe to do so (with the suitable control measures);
  • Where there is significant health and safety risk, adjusting the working conditions or hours, redeploying them to a suitable alternative place.
  • Monitoring and reviewing risk assessments in line with any changes to the pregnant workers; health or work environment.

These should be done on a case by case basis.

Please note that the current COVID risk assessment will score as high risk due to pregnancy. For next steps, follow the flow chart on page 3 of the Risk Assessment Guidance.

Reminder – No change to COVID safety measures at Trust

Although changes have been announced to COVID-19 restrictions for the general public in England from today, there will be no changes made to Trust safety measures until further notice.

This means that:

  • Staff should continue to follow current self-isolation procedures should they test positive for COVID-19: https://covid.sthk.nhs.uk/self-isolation-guidance/.
  • All infection prevention safety measures remain in place including the wearing of surgical face masks, social distancing and working from home where possible.
  • Visiting restrictions remain in place across all Trust premises.

Once further guidance is received from the Government, any changes will only come into effect once the Trust has reviewed these and is able to make any changes to current practice in a safe and controlled manner. Therefore, staff should continue to follow the current Trust guidance.
Any changes will be communicated to staff before they come into effect. Please keep up-to-date via the staff COVID update emails, and via the staff COVID website: https://covid.sthk.nhs.uk/
