Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on balancing and strengthening the body evenly, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. Great for improving posture and flexibility, it’s suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

About Gemma
Gemma is a Sports Development Professional and has been working for St Helens Council for 17 years. Her goal is to get ‘more people, more active, more often’. Working in partnership with local sports clubs and National Governing Bodies, Gemma aims to improve facilities, upskill coaches and volunteers and provide sustainable opportunities for people to take part in sport and physical activity.

Beginner Pilates is every Wednesday 5-5.30pm on Zoom (Free to attend). Email GemmaIreland@sthelens.gov.uk for the Zoom link and passcodes.
St Helens Sports Development Team also deliver local programmes, aimed at supporting people who are currently inactive, to take their first steps into a more active lifestyle. These include our popular Couch to 5k, Beginner Fitness and Pilates, Fit Forever sessions aimed at older adults and a varied programme for young people too!
