  • SAFETY MEASURES – PPE, SOCIAL DISTANCING

Identifying risk factors of SARS CoV2 variantsClinicians must determine the travel history of anyone presenting to hospital as an emergency due COVD-19 symptoms or other reasons.

If the patient has been through any of the countries on the travel ban list in the preceding 10 days OR have been a contact of such an individual, the patient should immediately be isolated in a single room with en-suite bathroom facilities, tested for COVID-19 using PCR and inform the Infection Prevention Team, bleep 7570 or ext. 1384/2452/1077/1005/1193 (or if out of hours, the on call Medical Microbiologist via switchboard).

SAFETY MEASURES – PPE, SOCIAL DISTANCING

It is critical that we continue to follow all safety procedures within our healthcare settings.

It is Trust policy that ALL staff MUST wear the appropriate PPE in ALL clinical and non-clinical settings. Any breach in Trust policy may result in disciplinary action

Staff Safety Measures for ALL staff

  • Staff in direct contact with patients should wear a surgical face mask (covering noses and mouths), apron, gloves and eye protection (goggles or visor)
  • Surgical face masks (covering noses and mouths) MUST be worn in all public areas and in any area where social distancing is not possible.
  • Continue to stay 2m apart
  • No more than 2 people in a lift at any time (please follow the signs outside the lifts, smaller lifts are 1 person only)
  • Continue to wash/sanitise hands frequently, especially when entering sites and clinical areas/wards
  • Continue to meet virtually on Microsoft Teams, with face-to-face meetings only taking place where it is possible to maintain social distance between participants
  • Continue to keep your working area clean and wipe shared equipment down at least twice a day
