Staff Update 26/03/20

Last updated on April 2nd, 2020 at 04:18 pm

Thank you for your continued hard work and commitment; we understand how challenging this situation is for everyone across the Trust.

Please think before you share information on social media or other messaging channels, be responsible and mindful of the impact on the anxiety levels of others. We really must take care of each other.

Visiting Times

National guidance on visiting has been updated. This is now in line with the changes the Trust made earlier in the week.

All visiting is suspended until further notice.

One Visitor Only

1 visitor only is permitted for:·

  • Patients who are receiving end of life care
  • Children

1 birthing partner only is permitted for:

  • Women in labour.

PPE

Cabinet discussed the national situation regarding PPE and the differing advice and guidance being issued from professional bodies.  The Trust position, as outlined in the Chief Executive message this morning,  is that we need to continue to follow national guidance, which is evidence based. Any individual concerns should be raised directly with the Medical Director or Director of Nursing.  The Trust is not restricting or rationing supplies of PPE, but we are trying to ensure those supplies are used appropriately to provide optimum protection for all staff who need it.

Staff Uniform

In line with infection, prevention and control staff must NOT travel to or leave work in their uniform. This is especially important during these times.

Car Parking charges

From 1st April 2020, until further notice, all staff car parking will be freeThis will appear as a refund in April payslips

Testing

It is no longer Trust policy to routinely swab for flu at the same time as COVID-19.To facilitate the prioritisation of staff swabbing requests, please can managers include the job title and Speciality/Department in the email title.Swabbing requests for staff index cases are arranged via HWWB. Requests should not be made directly to the Paediatric Department.

HR

From today there is a new process for logging COVID related sickness absence. This has been uploaded to the staff intranet page for managers today.Risk assessments for extremely vulnerable and at risk staff and household members will also be uploaded today along with flow charts for completion. HR will contact any manager who has already submitted forms to review in light of the new guidance.Any requests for additional bank staff over and above the normal staffing levels must be signed off by execs prior to being requested. This doesn’t apply to backfilling shifts on rosters.
