GOOD HOUSEKEEPING GUIDE FOR NON FACE TO FACE APPOINTMENTS

A guide on how to conduct non face to face outpatient appointments has been developed to help clinical staff deliver outpatient activity via telephone or video appointments, that meets all the safety and governance requirements.

REPEAT TESTING OF PATIENTS WHO HAVE A NEGATIVE ADMISSION SCREEN

Please see below update:

For all admissions after 18 May 2020, patients who test negative on their admission screen, must have a re-test every 5-7 days after admission until discharged. Using the appropriate drop down selection on Medway (see below). Patients who are awaiting this repeat test result but who do not have clinical features of COVID-19 do NOT need isolation in side rooms (unless they also have another reason to require this e.g. another infectious disease requiring isolation precautions or infection alert such as MRSA/VRE/CPE).

NHS COVID HEROES

Throughout these unprecedented times, the amazing Maternity Team have adapted and adopted new ways of working to continue to provide an excellent service.  They reacted quickly to ensure the safety of women and their babies whilst maintaining screening services, implementing remote monitoring and prioritising the overall wellbeing of this high risk group.

Communication has been key, and the team have used social media to update families on all the latest covid guidance and created short films to offer advice regarding services that have unfortunately had to be suspended due to the pandemic.  Feedback has been extremely positive, with mums thanking the team for going out of their way to make sure they feel supported throughout their pregnancy and birth journey.

Over 1280 babies have been delivered by the team since the pandemic began, and if there was ever a time to appreciate life and those who help to bring it into this world, it’s now!

Well done team!
