Flu Vaccination Programme

Please can ALL staff prioritise having the flu jab this week

If you leave it too late, you could miss out on getting the Covid vaccine as soon as it’s available.

Because there needs to be a gap of 7 days between having the Flu and Covid vaccines, it’s really important that you have your flu jab as soon as possible, so there’s no delay in getting protected against Covid.

For this reason we have increased the number of flu clinics across the Trust this week. Find your nearest and soonest here.

And if you can’t get to a clinic, we’ll come to you:

YOUR FLU JAB DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR

If you and your colleagues are struggling to attend a flu clinic and would like to book a ‘deliverflu’ we can arrange for the vaccinator to come to your ward/area

Please email emma.knowles@sthk.nhs.uk or call 07785 694539  between 9am and 4pm Mon-Fri

STHK Covid Redeployment Hub NEW email address

Antibiotic usage in patients with Covid-19

It is essential that all antibiotics are reviewed within 48hrs of prescribing OR as soon as test results are available as per NICE NG173.  Refer to the microguide for prescribing advice.

When to stop antibiotics

Use the following signs, symptoms and test results to help inform the overall clinical assessment and decision about when to safely stop antibiotics:

  • no evidence of bacterial infection in blood, urine or sputum samples
  • a positive SARS‑CoV2 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay
  • fever resolved or resolving
  • symptoms and blood test results (particularly lymphopenia) consistent with COVID‑19 pneumonia
  • chest imaging (plain X‑ray, CT scan or lung ultrasound) consistent with COVID‑19 pneumonia
