About the session
Physical activity has a huge potential to enhance our wellbeing. Even a short burst of 10 minutes’ brisk walking increases our mental alertness, energy and positive mood. Participation in regular physical activity can increase our self-esteem and can reduce stress and anxiety.

About Gemma
Gemma is a Sports Development Professional and has been working for St Helens Council for 17 years. Her goal is to get ‘more people, more active, more often’. Working in partnership with local sports clubs and National Governing Bodies, Gemma aims to improve facilities, upskill coaches and volunteers and provide sustainable opportunities for people to take part in sport and physical activity.

St Helens Sports Development Team also deliver local programmes, aimed at supporting people who are currently inactive, to take their first steps into a more active lifestyle. These include our popular Couch to 5k, Beginner Fitness and Pilates, Fit Forever sessions aimed at older adults and a varied programme for young people too!
