Repeat testing of patients who have a negative admission screen
Any inpatients who test negative for COVID on their admission screen must be retested 5 days after admission. The repeat screens should then be continued every 5 days until discharge unless the patient is found to be positive.
This is important in identifying cases in a timely manner and reducing the risk of COVID transmission within the Trust, which protects both staff and patients.
Note that this is a change from the previous guidance of retesting 5-7 days after admission and then every 5-7 days until discharge
STHK Covid Redeployment Hub Contact Details
The STHK Covid Redeployment Hub email address is: StHKCOVIDRedeploymentHub@sthk.nhs.uk .
If you are searching for this in the global address book you need to search for “STHK Covid” to locate it.
Movement of patients around the hospitals
Whilst it is extremely considerate of staff to assist patients who ask for help moving about the hospital, we ask that this is discouraged as it is essential that we limit the movement of patients to public areas as much as possible to prevent the spread of infection.
Also, as the Trust’s premises are smoke free sites, please encourage patients who smoke to access the nicotine therapy available to prevent them leaving the building for a cigarette.
