Stay Safe

All staff are reminded to do all they can to stay safe and protect everyone during this time.

Social distancing, hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes, remain the most important measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Please continue to follow national and Trust guidance:

  • Stay 2m apart where possible – including in all non-clinical areas such as offices, staff rooms, restaurants and all public areas
  • Clean your hands regularly

The Trust is waiting on further guidance regarding all NHS staff wearing surgical masks. We will share this information with you as soon as we receive it.

Staff Tests for Covid-19

Tests are available for staff are:

  • The PCR Antigen Test (swab test) – for those with current symptoms to see if they are due to Covid-19 virus being present in your body now
  • The Antibody Test – to see if you have previously been infected by the virus

An easy to read guide to test results has been published on the staff covid website and can be found on the relevant testing pages:

Staff testing for research purposes

Some staff have agreed to be tested for Covid-19 for research purposes.

These staff are reminded that unless they are unwell they do not need to stay off work pending results.

All other staff are reminded that colleagues who are tested purely for research purposes are permitted to be in work as long as they are symptom free.

Visiting restrictions

Visiting restrictions remain in place across all our hospitals

This also applies to staff who must not visit friends or loved ones on the wards

Hidden Hospital Heroes

Today we applaud the heroic efforts of the Admissions Department.

They’ve worked extremely hard during the pandemic ensuring that all patients who regrettably had treatment delayed were informed about changes at the earliest opportunity, reassuring patients if needed and discussing their concerns.

The team have been essential to the implementation of the Cancer Hub at St Helens Hospital which meant the Trust could continue with urgent operations, ensuring patients are booked in for pre-operative Covid-19 swabs prior to surgery.

Incredible team work, well done everyone!
