Bereavement Support

There is a wide range of support available to staff to help with bereavement following the loss of a colleague, friend or family member during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Visit the Wellbeing section of the staff Covid website: https://covid.sthk.nhs.uk/wellbeing/ (password: STHKcovid19) where there is a wealth of support for you to access.

The Trust’s Bereavement & Grief Booklet is available for you to download here: https://covid.sthk.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Bereavement-Grief-Booklet.pdf (password: STHKcovid19)

Or request a paper copy of the Trust’s Staff Wellbeing Guide by emailing: communications@sthk.nhs.uk

There is also a national website available which that holds practical information for staff who may be supporting their teams through a bereavement and personal advice also:

Visiting guidance for patients living with mental health, dementia or learning disability

National visiting guidance has been updated to include the additional advice:

  • 1 visitor (immediate family member or carer) is permitted to support a patient with a mental health issue, for example, dementia or a learning disability, where not being present would cause the patient to be distressed.

Please note: Wards/departments must be contacted in advance to discuss appropriate arrangements and the risks of visiting made clear to each person, including the risks of catching Coronavirus and spreading it to others

Use of fans within Trust premises

During the pandemic, staff should not use fans or other air circulating equipment (including Dyson fans) to reduce the temperature in their area. This is in line with national Infection Prevention Guidance.

This includes all wards, clinics and offices. If you are within the hospitals and experiencing problems with the temperature due to the hot weather (when it returns!), then please report this through the VINCI Facilities helpdesk on ext. 1188.

#NHSHiddenHeroes

Today’s heroes are the super duper IT Taskforce Team! The team have been working flat out to ensure our clinical teams have the technology at hand to embrace new ways of working in the rapidly changing world of healthcare.
They have been a valuable source of knowledge and support, helping users adapt to new systems and have reacted quickly to calls for assistance. In little over a month they’ve helped many of us to become experts in video conferencing – now that deserves hero status if nothing else.
Well done guys!
